Kitchen Remodel

THE CHALLENGE:

This home was built in the 1920’s and had beautiful architectural details. Unfortunately, the kitchen was redesigned in the 1960’s.

 We had to redesign and remodel the kitchen while honoring the architeture…

So, we set out to incorporate both traditional and modern details…

THE STORY

Again, to accomplish our vision, we had to do a bit (quite a bit) of “removal”, but keeping the integrity of the 1920’s beauty.

We removed an entire wall that separated the kitchen and replaced it with a small pantry.  We removed vinyl flooring, wood paneling on the ceiling and of course, the outdated wallpaper. We replaced the cabinetry with soft painted shaker doors and used quartzite stone for the countertop. We used complimentary subway tiles with a decorative detail that honored the family history.  The vinyl flooring was replaced with maple walnut to match the existing flooring.  And success!

The final design honored the existing architecture but modernized the design to be able to be enjoyed for many years to come.
