On Saturday, April 29, 2023, the San Diego chapter of the American Society of Interior Designers (ASID) and the National Kitchen and Bath Association (NKBA) teamed up to present residents and organization members with a unique self-guided tour event. From Carlsbad to Coronado, the tour showcased twelve projects. One project, by Rebecca Flynn Design, was featured in the pre-event promotions.
The tour publicist contacted the agency to request Ms. Flynn’s agency’s Fletcher Hills Kitchen project to be used as the feature photo for the entire tour. “I was so honored,” said Rebecca, “From what we [Rebecca and client] started with to a showcase kitchen and an event tour feature? Wow… We were excited!”
Featured in the San Diego Union Tribune and promoted on Fox5SanDiego.com’s “Things to Do” list as well as an article in the East County Californian just to name a few, Ms. Flynn’s project certainly made a splash in the media. This featured kitchen project drew over 60 event participants during the tour. “Everyone loved the use of color and the cabinetry,” recounted Rebecca, “And with its unique layout and custom design, we know this is why this project became the ‘poster project’ for the event.”
The client and Rebecca worked as a team, not only on the project itself, but during the showcase tour. “We made it cozy and welcoming and my client was extremely excited to show off her home.” And who wouldn’t be? From removing walls (the space desperately need to be opened up) to cabinetry, a custom island/bar/seating area, and an incredible use of color and lighting, this kitchen (and living room) certainly went through a showcase-worthy transformation.
Before and after photos as well as the rendering upon which the transformation was based can be seen on the agency’s website HERE.
