The kids went off to college or moved out. And there you stand looking at the rooms… yes, missing them, but also, dreaming about what you are going to do with your now vacant spaces.
That’s normal and you are not alone. According to an article posted at Neighbor.com which cites surveys from Ersi and Redfin, the median age of empty nesters is just 49 years old and nearly 3 out of 4 empty nesters (71%) will be renovating / remodeling their homes. And with people staying in their homes up to 5 years longer than in past years, our average life span at almost 80, and more seniors aging in place (Rebecca is a Certified Living in Place Professional [CLIPP]), you’ve got a LOT of reasons to redesign and remodel.
What spaces you ask? Not surprisingly, the survey says that the most common areas that empty nesters focus on for their remodel are their kids’ former bedrooms and bathrooms, followed by the living room and kitchen.
So what will you do with YOUR areas/spaces? Whether it be a kitchen upgrade to allow for more entertaining, making your dream office, home gym or hobby room, creating the ultimate bed and bath for your guests or constructing your ultimate outdoor space, before you jump in, experts recommend having a plan.
That’s where we come in. From sharing your dreams to sketching out the concepts; making recommendations and selections to pulling all the pieces together; budgeting and costing through construction and finishing touches, we are with you through the entire process.
They say “EMPTY nest”, we say “now it’s YOUR nest”…. Let’s make that space a reflection of you and create the home that you’re now looking for!
